It pays to remember that

we are all still animals.

We may not have

the same words,

but the feelings

that words were

invented to capture

remain the same.

Look deep into the

eyes of a beloved pet.

Murmur endearments

in English, French,

Esperanto, or Gibberish…

they know exactly

the message you send.

But try to take away a bone,

a blanket, a homeland,

a basic “human” right?

The growl, the bark, the curse --

perfectly understood.

This is the magic of

a horse whisperer:

calming a nervous filly

     a nervous child

          a nervous nation

by whispering unexpected

words of kindness in an

explosive situation, a stream

of consciousness that may,

or may not, make any sense

if written down, but makes

perfect sense when heard

by the heart.
