Renovation

I had all the cabinets

ripped off the kitchen walls,

replaced with two

simple shelves of oak

with antique iron brackets.

They hold a few plates.

Mugs enough.

My grandmother’s

stoneware bowl.

There was much more

room for art and light.

It was freeing!

But 100 faces still

smile at me from the

front of the fridge.

They

will stay.
